Posiblemente siendo esta su mejor interpretación de toda su carrera, James Stewart en esta escena de Mr. Smith goes to Washington, exhausto y abatido, se dirige al resto de senadores para denunciar la corrupción y codicia tan característicos del sistema político estadounidense. Un ejemplo de rectitud, esta escena nos demuestra que los principios únicamente son principios cuando nos atenemos a ellos en los momentos de mayor dificultad.
